About Heroes Sports League, Inc.
Founded in 2008 by Truett McConnell University student Josh Bugg, the Heroes Sports League began in White County, Georgia with a single sport—baseball. Following Josh’s graduation, leadership of the league was taken on by community member and parent, Barry Vandiver. With the ongoing support of parents, families, and community volunteers, the organization has continued to grow and flourish.

Today, Heroes Sports League offers multiple sports, including baseball and golf, along with a variety of social events designed to engage athletes and their families. The league expanded into Habersham and Lumpkin Counties where pickleball and bowling have been popular sports. The local Parks and Recreation Departments have played vital roles in the success of the league by managing registration, providing access to facilities, and promoting the league throughout the community.

In 2025, Heroes Sports League officially became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, marking a significant milestone. It continues to be run by a Board of Directors with members from White, Lumpkin, and Habersham Counties and Barry Vandiver continuing to serve as president.

Our mission is to provide inclusive, community-driven sports opportunities for youth with special needs, advocate for the special needs community, and offer meaningful support to their families. We are proud of our growth and remain committed to expanding into additional counties across North Georgia.
